What Are Letters Doing in Maths?
In maths, letters like x, y, and z don't mean what they do in English. They're not just letters—they're placeholders for numbers we don't know yet. Instead of writing "some unknown number plus 5 equals 12", mathematicians write x + 5 = 12. This is much faster and clearer!
